It’s back again. The King Ash Bay Easter Fishing Classic. And this year promises to be as big as ever. As usual, around Easter time, the fishing should be red hot.
Last years competition saw a record number of entries, and the competition organizers are expecting a similar result this year.
There is a massive amount of cash and prizes to be given away. The one everyone will be trying top win will be the CHAMPION ANGLER. There are champion angler prizes awarded in both ESTUARY as well as REEF categories. Entrants can weigh in fish from both categories if they like.
There are 7 fish in each category. (7 ESTUARY and 7 REEF)
Prizes are awarded for the heaviest fish in each category, plus mystery weight prizes for each fish. There are prizes for almost everything including lucky door prizes and lucky entrant prizes.
The weekend isn’t all about fishing though. There is nightly entertainment including live music from “The Little Ripper Band.” The boys from the band have performed at the Easter Fishing Classic several times in years gone by and it is great to have them back again this year.
The Cane Toad Calcutta on the Friday night is great fun. It is held at Groper’s Bar. People are invited to bid on toads at an auction held on the night. The auction money is pooled and divided among the owners of the winning toads.
Weigh-ins take place on both the Saturday and Sunday afternoons of the fishing comp. 3:30pm to 6pm. The final presentations take place on the Sunday night.
Groper’s Grill will be open for meals 7 days week at the time of the Fishing Competition.
